This engagement has concluded.
Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset Councils provide a Habilitation service for children and young people with vision impairments (through Guide Dogs for the Blind). This provides training to support children and young people to develop mobility and the daily living skills they need to become independent.
We are recommissioning the Habilitation service in April 2024 as the contract is due to expire. We want to work together with families of children and young people with vision impairments and young people (aged 16+) to co-produce the service and ensure it meets their needs. There are Quality Standards for Habilitation which set out the range of skills children and young people must be taught through habitation training. This means there are some limitations to the changes that can be made, however, we welcome all feedback about the service.
For those that were not able to attend our co-production events, we would be really grateful if you could spare a few minutes to complete the survey below to share your feedback on the Habilitation Service for children and young people with vision impairments. Your feedback is invaluable and will help us to shape the service moving forwards.
If you would prefer to have a call with a member of our team to discuss your feedback, please do let us know by contacting jcu@bristol.gov.uk.
