Engagement has concluded
Overview
As we emerge from the pandemic the effects of isolation on our young people, especially those in more disadvantaged communities, is apparent.
Children and young people (CYP) in Bristol need us to invest in their futures. They need a place that helps them to learn new skills, discover their talents and where they can build trusting relationships with adult role models and feel they belong in our community.
In line with, and as part of, the aspirations of our Bristol One City Plan, the Bristol Children’s Charter and the Bristol Equalities Charter, we are developing proposals for a new Youth Zone in South Bristol. The Youth Zone would provide a dedicated space where children and young people from all backgrounds can play, grow and learn, preparing for their futures in our city.
The excellent facilities at the Youth Zone would be available to children and young people from across South Bristol and other parts of the city. We are engaging with people across the city. We want your views on the proposed South Bristol Youth Zone at this stage to help us plan and develop this exciting centre for young people. In this survey we outline the five goals of the Youth Zone and ask if you think there is a need for those things in your area and if you think the Youth Zone will achieve them. You can also give us any other comments or suggestions about the proposals.
What happens next?
We will use the feedback from the responses you give to further develop our proposals.
In the meantime, the Mayor and Cabinet will be asked to approve funding for technical investigations to help us plan the proposed facility on Tuesday 14 September.
This engagement closes on Sunday 17 October 2021. After it has closed, we will carefully consider all the responses to help us develop our proposals for the Youth Zone. There will be another opportunity to comment as part of a separate planning process on more detailed plans as part of a 'pre-planning application consultation' later in the autumn.
The responses from this engagement, the pre-planning application consultation, and technical work will be included in a Full Business Case in late 2021/early 2022. A final decision on the Youth Zone will be made by the Mayor and Cabinet in February 2022 when they have considered the full business case.
