Filwood Broadway will have the street, pavements and greenspaces improved to make it safer, pedestrian friendly and a place where we all want to stay longer.
The vision is to make it an “attractive and welcoming place to visit, shop, and spend time”.
Background
The first phase of work included a new playground at the top of the Broadway. The design was developed in collaboration with children from Christ the King School, and opened in November 2023.
Following two years of co-design and engagement, future improvements are currently undergoing detailed design and quality assurance processes ahead of start on site in Spring 2025.

Next Steps
Following consultation with external stakeholder groups such as Filwood Broadway Working Group, West of England Centre for Inclusive Living (WECIL), Bristol Walking Alliance, Bristol Cycling Campaign, and the Emergency Services the council is working to finalise detailed designs ahead of construction starting in late spring 2025.
A Traffic Regulation Order summarising the proposed scheme design will be open for public comment in 2025. Information about how to view the proposals and submit comments will be included on this webpage and distributed to local residents once the Traffic Regulation Order has been advertised.
