Consultation on proposed school terms and holiday dates for 2025/2026

Bristol City Council is responsible for setting the school term and holiday dates for all Community and Voluntary Controlled schools in the city. Academies have the freedom to determine their own but often choose to align with the LA.

Following discussions with local authorities neighbouring Bristol, we consulted on two options for term dates. South Gloucestershire Council have proposed Option 1, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset Option 2.

This survey was open from 11 March to 22 April 2024.

Option 1 Term Dates

Term 1 1^st September 2025 to 24^th October 2024 (40 days)

Term 2 3^rd November 2025 to 19^th December 2025 (35 days)

Term 3 5^th January 2026 to 13^th February 2026 (30 days)

Term 4 23^rd February 2026 to 2^nd April 2026 (29 days)

Term 5 20^th April 2026 to 22^nd May 2026 (24 days)

Term 6 1^st June 2026 to 21^st July 2026 (37 days)

Option 2 Term Dates

Term 1 2^nd September 2025 to 24^th October 2025 (39 days)

Term 2 3^rd November 2025 to 19^th December 2025 (35 days)

Term 3 5^th January 2026 to 13^th February 2026 (30 days)

Term 4 23^rd February 2026 to 2^nd April 2026 (29 days)

Term 5 20^th April 2026 to 22^nd May 2026 (24 days)

Term 6 1^st June 2026 to 22^nd July 2026 (38 days)

Total - 195 School Days*

*In the school year 2024/2025 pupils must attend for 190 days. School may decide which 5 days in the school year are INSET or non-contact days (days when pupils do not attend)
