This consultation has concluded.

Home to School Travel services

Bristol City Council provides Home to School Travel services to empower young people to travel to and from education safely and as independently as possible. This may be a free bus pass, a free rail pass, payment for mileage driven by parents or carers, or a personal travel budget (PTB). We ensure that our policies are in line with current national guidance, fair for children and families, and are effective use of available resources.

What we are doing

Bristol City Council has reviewed our existing policies for home to school travel support. These are:

  • Bristol City Council Home to School (5 to 16) Travel Support Policy. This is our policy for home to school travel support for children aged 5 to 16 years old.
  • Bristol City Council Home to School (16 to 25) Travel Support Policy. This is our policy for home to school travel support for young people aged 16 to 25 years old.

We are doing this to make our existing offer clearer for parents and carers. As part of the review, we have identified some things we think need to change. In this consultation, we are asking for your feedback on these proposals.
