Overview

Artist's impression of proposed site

Bristol City Council is proposing to develop the former garage site next to Bell Close, behind Bishop Manor Road, in Horfield.

The intention is to deliver 9 affordable homes on this site and we are exploring opportunities for how these will be let to benefit the local area. This project will revitalise the disused garage plots and deliver much-needed homes.

As part of the Innovate UK project to research modern methods of construction (MMC), we are working with Project Etopia, who we anticipate will deliver the project.

The proposal will showcase the Gap House, high quality sustainable homes which are designed to fit onto small garage sites. They will be factory built and trial innovative technologies.

Manufacture of the houses would largely be carried out off-site which would cause less disruption than a traditional build during the construction phase.

How you can you take part

We have drawn up a design for the site and would like you to tell us what you like and dislike about it.

Why your views matter

We want to reach as much of the community as possible – this project will be in your neighbourhood and we want your views to help us shape the design.

What happens next

This is the initial consultation on the proposal for Bells Close and when the engagement closes on the 19th July 2021, we will:

  • take your comments and suggestions and update the designs where possible
  • share the design with you again once it is more developed
  • develop and submit a detailed planning submission
  • give you a final opportunity to comment as part of the planning application process.
