Combining the former Cinema site with land from behind the high street, Bristol City Council will create a new development of thirty affordable homes, including 24 for Social Rent and 6 for Shared Ownership. Following site preparation works over the summer, construction started in November 2024.
The development includes two ground floor units suitable for retail or community use, and the larger retail unit (480sqm) is identified as suitable for a small supermarket.
Following community engagement feedback, the new library which was initially planned for this development is now expected to be part of the Filwood Community Centre project, which you can read about here.
