Consultation has concluded

Overview

The Filwood ‘cinema site’ is located in the local centre of Filwood Broadway, part of the residential Knowle West area to the south of Bristol city centre.

This is one of several sites in South Bristol proposed for development by Bristol City Council to help meet the demand for more affordable housing across the city. The development also consists of measures to ensure these properties are more energy efficient and contribute to our response to the climate emergency.

The new development of 30 affordable new homes and some community/commercial space is proposed for the site of the former cinema. Currently only the shell remains of the cinema building which will be demolished. The redevelopment will also include a new landscaped public space fronting onto Filwood Broadway.

In December 2019 a first round of public consultation was held on the draft design options and feedback from the community and key stakeholders has helped shape these latest design proposals. Since then, the council housing team has also been working with a variety of community groups about the proposals for the former cinema site.

This second round of consultation will run for four weeks from 5 January – 4 February 2022.

Your feedback will help inform the final design which will be submitted for planning after the consultation closes. The planning application will seek consent for detailed plans including the site layout, what the new buildings will look like, landscaping and access.
