We did
The feedback from this survey along with the engagement with local stakeholders, ward members and community groups has been reviewed. The results showed overall support for the traffic signal refurbishment and junction elements of the scheme but not for the bus lane. We are therefore proposing to omit the bus lane from the plans going forward as the priority for the scheme is to refurbish the life expired signals. Bristol City Council is still committed to improving passenger transport along this corridor, and this will remain an aspiration in any future A4018 schemes.
We can also reassure pedestrians that the timings of the new signals will improve pedestrian safety and comfort, and that the new junction will be a better pedestrian environment over the existing layout. The detailed design will proceed with a view towards starting construction in Spring 2023.
