Temple Quarter Spatial Framework and Temple Quarter Development Framework

You might be aware that a Spatial Framework for Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone was created in 2016. You can find out more about it, how it will relate to the Development Framework, and how these documents are considered in planning decisions in our FAQs.

The map below shows the areas and sites covered in each of these documents:

Map of the Temple Quarter regeneration area, shaded in pink, and the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone, marked by a red line around the boundary. Temple Quarter covers St Philip's Marsh to the east of Temple Meads Station, Mead Street to the south west, Temple Gate to the west and the Friary area to the north west of the station. The Enterprise Zone does not include the central and eastern part of St Philip's Marsh. It includes land either side of the River Avon and land near Arnos Vale in Brislington. The Enterprise Zone also includes areas to the north east of Temple Meads at Finzels Reach and Redcliffe.Map showing the Enterprise Zone covered in the Spatial Framework alongside the area covered in the Bristol Temple Quarter Development Framework. Click here to open a larger version of the map above in a new tab.

Developments already being planned

A number of development schemes are already progressing in Temple Quarter. The planned developments have been considered in the production of this development framework to bring forward a coordinated approach to change in the area. However, they are progressing separately and therefore we are not seeking your feedback on them in this consultation. These include the following:

Artist's impression of the Silverthorn Lane development. Four buildings of around 10 storeys are on the far side of a river, with a public square in the centre. Trees line the river in the foreground. Silverthorne Lane

Aerial CGI of the Silverthorne Lane development along the north edge of the Feeder Canal. Various buildings of different sizes extend from Avon street in the west to the railway in the north east. Silverthorne Lane, which includes a new secondary school

Artist's impression of the proposed new eastern entrance at Bristol Temple Meads. People sit and walk towards the entrance, which is a glass fronted building with a Network Rail sign. The public realm has seating and trees. Eastern Entrance to Bristol Temple Meads station
The proposed floating harbour walkway. The walkway is on the left of the image with figures walking and cycling along it. The railway arches across the river are in the background. The walkway goes under the left hand railway arch. Floating Harbour walkway
