Consultation has concluded
Bristol City Council is working with local residents, businesses, landowners, developers and other stakeholders to guide the long-term regeneration of central Bristol.
The Development and Delivery Plan (or Plan for short), once complete, will guide the recovery, regeneration and transformation of Bristol city centre over the period to 2050. It will look at what needs to be done within the city centre to:
Create inclusive and sustainable economic growth
Provide quality homes for Bristol's growing population
Create jobs and opportunities in places that people can reach sustainably
Support a thriving leisure and retail sector and night time economy
Respond to the climate and ecological emergencies
Provide quality public spaces and a green and healthy environment.
The Plan will cover a large area of central Bristol, extending from Marlborough Street and Bond Street in the north, to Castle Park in the south. The study area includes The Galleries, Fairfax Street, Callowhill Court, Haymarket and the former Debenhams store (some of which are already subject to development proposals from private developers) as well as the area around St James Barton roundabout. Within this area, the Plan will look at ways to retain and enhance Castle Park and St James’ Park as important open spaces.
