Consultation has concluded
Overview
The Broad Plain strategy area is undergoing rapid social and economic change as new development transforms the area into a flatted, residential quarter. The public realm strategy focusses on the area bounded by Temple Way, Old Market Street, Midland Road, New Kingsley Road/Horton Street and Avon Street. As the strategy area is located next to the city centre and Temple Meads station, however, the strategy extends to include the major pedestrian and cycle movement corridors that pass through it.
These are:
the predominantly pedestrian route between Old Market and Temple Meads station
the hugely popular, predominantly cycle route linking the city centre to the Bristol and Bath Railway Path
The purpose of the Public Realm Strategy is to maximise the opportunities presented by the regeneration of the Broad Plain area. This will support the community vision, as outlined in the Old Market Quarter Neighbourhood Plan for an attractive central neighbourhood that is not dominated by traffic and the creation of convivial public spaces and people friendly streets.
Walkabouts with the project team to discuss the public realm strategy are planned for 11am-12.30pm 15th Sept; 6pm-7.30pm 17th Sept; 2pm-3.30pm 23rd September; and 5.30pm-7pm 14th October. Meet in Broad Plain at the subway entrance by McColls. Please let us know you are coming via Eventbrite.
Zoom meetings will be held on 29 September.
Please email citydesigngroup@bristol.gov.uk for further information on the consultation events.
