This consultation has concluded.
Overview
The local plan has now progressed to the pre submission publication stage. It is the version that the council proposes to submit to the Secretary of State for examination. The role of this ‘publication version' document is to provide the opportunity for comments, which are known as 'representations', to be made before it is submitted to the Secretary of State.
The new local plan will:
Update all existing policies for deciding planning applications.
Guide development across the city.
The plan is now available for representations.
Why are we asking for your views?
As part of the local plan review process, we are required to collect ‘representations’ on the new plan’s content. These need to relate to a specific policy or proposal in the plan.
The plan will then be submitted to the secretary of state along with the representations. These will be considered by the planning inspector who examines the local plan.
We've prepared a statement of consultation to accompany the publication version of the new local plan.
It sets out how the council has responded to comments made at earlier stages of consultation and how they've informed the plan.
What is in the new local plan?
The new local plan covers many topics relating to new buildings and development across the city. It includes policies which set standards or requirements for new development and identifies areas where it would be suitable.
How to get involved
We invited representations on the policies and proposals set out in the new local plan between 21 November 2023 and 26 January 2024. You can read the publication version of the local plan here.
A statement of representations procedure has been prepared as required by Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.
