Consultation has concluded

Why are we consulting?

In September and October, we consulted you about Bristol Impact Fund 3 (BIF 3). The Bristol Impact Fund is a grant funding programme for community and voluntary sector organisations. In this consultation we asked for your views and we consulted on a budget of £8m for the four-year period from 1 April 2026 – 31 March 2030. This took account of a potential saving of £800,000 over four years compared to previous funding levels.

We explained that the council was continuing to work on proposals to balance the budget and therefore the potential budget we consulted on in the autumn may be subject to change. We said that if there was a change to the proposed budget you would have an opportunity to have your say.

We are now proposing a further saving to the BIF 3 of £600,000 over four years giving a total budget of £7.4 million over four years. This is a reduction of 7.5% compared to the budget of £8 million that was consulted on in autumn 2024, and a total reduction of 16% from the original BIF 3 budget of £8.8 million.

We are now seeking the views of Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations on the proposed additional saving and if approved how this should be applied across the BIF3 budget headings.

How to have your say

The consultation was open from Monday 20 January 2025 and closed at midnight on Friday 21 February 2025.

What happens next?

On 3 February 2025 the council’s Strategy and Resources Policy Committee will consider next year’s budget including savings proposals and agree a recommended budget for all councillors to consider at Full Council.

The overall budget amount of BIF3 for 2025/26 will be decided by Full Council at its budget setting meeting on 25 February 2025.

The decision on the BIF3 budget, set by full council, will be made by the Public Health and Communities (PHC) Committee on 14 March 2025. Council officers will consider all responses to this consultation in making their recommendations to the PHC Committee. In making their decision the PHC Committee will also take into account responses to this consultation.

The committee and Full Council meetings are made in public and members of the public can submit statements and questions as described here: https://www.bristol.gov.uk/council/how-council-decisions-are-made/get-involved-in-local-democracy.
